I have just returned from beautiful Savannah where I was working with the students of SCAD: Savannah College of Art and Design. Being a mentor to them is such an amazing opportunity for me to share my experience and knowledge to help them find themselves as designers.
The Fashion School at SCAD is an inspiring place with great leaders like President Paula Wallace, Michael Fink, and Anthony Miller and me cheers with champagne to the success of the students. I enjoyed very much meeting the professors of the Fashion School as well, the students are so fortunate to have such a strong group of talented and experienced individuals to look up to and learn from. Mr. Christopher McDonnell, Ms. Carol Harris, and Mr. John Bauernfeind are teachers that I loved meeting and working with during the one-on-one interviews with the students.
I brought some books and fabric samples from my New York studio to help the students along their journey. Each one of them is in the process of discovering who they are as a person and as a designer. I am looking forward to follow their evolution along the year with great hope–
