Catherine Malandrino celebrated its ten-year anniversary this past year, expanding to include new boutiques in Los Angeles, Istanbul, Dubai, and now Catherine has selected the world famous Harrods department store as the first UK platform to launch her collection.
The Catherine Malandrino shop-in-shop was designed by Catherine Malandrino in collaboration with French architect and interior designer Christophe Pillet. It is housed within the designer collections department on the first floor of Harrods and covers 680sqft. The inviting space will feature the iconic amber glass wall, a signature feature within the Malandrino stores, and a polished stainless steel wave.

New York, NY, February 13, 2009- Fashion designer Catherine Malandrino is a permanent judge on this season of Bravo TV’s “Make Me a Supermodel”.
Bravo’s creative competition series “Make Me A Supermodel” returns for season two with supermodel Tyson Beckford as the show’s host and mentor to the male models. Australian supermodel Nicole Trunfio joins the show as mentor to the female models. Also, a new panel of esteemed judges joins the series, including world-renowned designer Catherine Malandrino, model Jenny Shimizu, and famed photographer Perou and international model-scout Marlon. “Make Me A Supermodel” follows a group of beautiful and talented men and women who will compete for $100,000 and the chance to become the next great supermodel. The series premieres on Wednesday, March 4 at 10pm ET/PT.
Catherine Malandrino was delighted to hold this permanent judgeship on “Make Me a Supermodel”, and she believes the show to be a great avenue for young models to break into the industry. Malandrino will appear in eight episodes of the series, ultimately deciding the fate of the shows 16 contestants.
Catherine is very excited for “Make Me a Supermodel” to air, and had an amazing time during the filming of the show.

Mattel has asked fifty designers to create a look that embodies the Barbie style for this special and monumental occasion. The French born- New York based Catherine Malandrino will dress the iconic international symbol of American culture.
Barbie will walk the runway draped in the ultimate symbol of the American Dream – Catherine Malandrino’s acclaimed “Flag” dress.
About the “Flag” Dress:
Catherine Malandrino presented her Flag collection in New York in February 2001, draping her models in flowing dresses printed with the stars and Stripes and cutting iconoclastic notched T-shirts from the U.S flag. In doing so, she created a fashion show based on her American Dream and the cult movie “Easy Rider”. Like Jasper Johns in his days, Catherine reinvented the starry banner in her own style.
Her boldness seduced New York department store Bergdorf Goodman, which displayed the design in its windows on Fifth Avenue in September that same year. With the trauma of September 11, the Flag collection seemed premonitory. During this difficult time, the Flag once again became the symbol of freedom. Consequently, stylists and A-list celebrities all wanted a piece of Catherine’s patriotic fashion show: Halle Berry, Julia Roberts and Sharon Stone were photographed wearing the cult dress. Madonna wore the “Flag” t-shirt on her world tour and John Galliano for the finale of his haute couture show in Paris.
She recently reedited the eponymous dress in 2008 to honor her 10 year anniversary, Since its re-launch, the iconic dress has been worn by stars Heidi Klum, Kelly Ripa, and Meryl Streep. A visionary image of an African American woman draped in the flag dress graces the cover of Catherine’s new book, published by Assouline.
The Zandra’s Rhodes’ Fashion & Textile Museum in London requested the iconic dress which has been part of a permanent exhibition since then.
New York, NY- Catherine Malandrino’s Meatpacking District boutique will be home to “Conversation Intime”, a mix of contemporary furniture including two SEZZ lamps and a Southbeach chair by Christophe Pillet inspired by his quote, “I am for a design language that makes sense and fits with the objects that surround us.”
From May 14 – 17th the Meatpacking District will be a hub of activity to more than 10,000 design aficionados visiting the neighborhood. Over four days guests will attend more than 25 free industry events hosted throughout the neighborhood.
Now in its 4th year, Meatpacking District Design ’09 has the added element of the newly opened Standard Hotel acting as headquarters.

Open to the public, the glamorous weekend-long event is set along Los Angeles’ preeminent design district – the La Cienega Design Quarter. With more than 40 luxurious shops and galleries, guests can stroll through the antiques, furniture, fine art, sensational bistros and boutiques as we pay tribute to past and present visionaries.
On Saturday May 9th at 3:30pm Catherine Malandrino will host a fashion presentation of her SS09 collection at the Catherine Malandrino Maison, followed by a panel discussion on pop design moderated by Degen Pener, Editor in Chief of Angeleno magazine, with renowned interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Extra TV fashion and style producer Brittany Weinstein and fashion designer Catherine Malandrino. New to the hub of west-cost interior design and located at the heart of the district, the Catherine Malandrino Maison is the perfect addition to this year’s event. Dubai, UAE- The French designer Catherine Malandrino opened a new boutique in the Dubai Mall. The spectacular 36 foot high citrus yellow gradated glass and stainless steel façade embodies the essence of the Catherine Malandrino brand welcoming visitors into the 1400 square foot space.
Continuing in the tradition of Catherine Malandrino boutiques, this newest addition is designed in collaboration with French architect Christophe Pillet. The color palette of the boutique reflects Catherine Malandrino’s aesthetic with shades of warm citrus yellow. Iconic pieces frame the space: a dramatic “Summer Rain” chandelier, consisting of 953 Murano hand-blown glass drops suspended by metal chains, and a patchwork screen of amber glass to endlessly capture the light of Dubai.
