Alice Guy Blaché Cinema Pioneer – At the Whitney


The Whitney presents the first comprehensive retrospective of the films of french filmmaker, Alice Guy Blaché, whom was the first woman director to establish and preside over her own film studio.

Blaché played every role in the making of her films. The first were filmed in France and then the United States after Blaché made the move west. With over 1,000 films to her name Blaché is a woman of cultural significance and pure inspiration.
